My friend Brian Franke, who’s an aspiring local musican, has been working on his debut album for a while now. He officially released the album this past week and held a proper CD release party to mark the occasion. I volunteered to take photos during the event. I figured I could use the practice taking pictures in a low-light setting like a bar, plus it would be good content for my photo site.
The CD release party was held at the Irish Channel Pub in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, DC. I think the combination of being in the same building as a Red Roof Inn and being away from the main drag in Chinatown helps draw a more laid-back crowd. There was a great turnout. Even though the bar wasn’t reserved, I would have to say almost everyone who was there was there for the CD release party.
